Public Relations is headed up by the Departments Public Information Officer who is tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the general public is kept informed of any emergency and news releases dealing with the community. 
 
News Releases involve major accidents, arrests, daily news releases of arrests, upcoming events, and any crimes that need information from the public.
 
The Public Information Officer takes the opportunity whenever possible to visit schools, civic clubs, churches, and other community functions to discuss issues involving the department and crime.
 
The Public Information Officer is responsible for the neighborhood watch program, crime prevention programs, and the annual National Night Out in the City of Sulphur.
